Digital Strategies Lead, China


Job Description:
Responsibilities:
• Develops, guides, and helps to codify and implement digital strategies and online influencer engagement for agency clients in China. This individual will successfully establish himself / herself as the “Go-To” digital communications expert in China.
• Always wearing digital glasses and serves as cross account digital air traffic controller. Will serve as eyes & ears digital “trend spotter” for agency in China. The successful candidate will be responsible for keeping the core Digital Strategies Group and China account teams informed and energized about what’s next in the digital world.
• Responsible for recommending winning next-generation PR strategies for both existing China clients and top-tier new business prospects (including, digital storytelling, online influencer engagement, social networking and online community building). Serve as trusted advisor to both internal and external stakeholders (agency account teams, clients and prospects) the Changing Influence Model and how best to leverage and manage emerging spheres of influence.
• Identify, partner with and motivate cross-discipline teams that span creative, digital production, research and account management. Provide pricing and budget guidance.
• Responsible for evangelizing an “integrated mindset” among China account teams/practices that promotes the inclusion of digital strategies as part of (rather than stand alone) components to the communications planning process. Works with Digital Strategies Group (DSG) to develop curriculum and training for account staff and practice groups to deliver these programs directly to clients.
• Support both regional marketing and PR activities for Waggener Edstrom Worldwide. This may include both primary and supporting roles at regional speaking engagements, networking receptions, and trade media interviews.
• Support development of unique market-focused digital communications IP for Waggener Edstrom Worldwide.

Job Requirements:
Qualifications:
• 7+ years experience that ideally includes mix of agency and in-house corporate experience.
• Bachelor degree a must. Advanced or specialty degree desired.
• Ideal candidate will have truly “integrated” communications background that includes many shades of influence (PR, Interactive, Promotions, Advertising) or some mix of both traditional and new media.
• Proven track record of creative digital influence, social networking and social journalism. Must have keen understanding of the changing face of influence ability to toggle seamlessly between traditional and new influence paradigms (depending on client situation). Experience identifying and engaging online influencers as well as direct to consumer.
• Experience working with both B2B and Consumer brands. Ability to work with clients of all stripes from SMEs to global brands. Knows how to influence lagging adopters a big plus!
• Collaborative spirit with a get it done work ethic. Presence and presentation pizzazz – new business or sales background a plus.
• Outstanding customer service orientation.
• Comfortable taking risks and thrives in fast-moving, constantly shifting context. No fear of ambiguity.
• Handle obstacles and difficult people with diplomacy and tact.
• Results-oriented track record with strong understanding of research and measurement methodologies in both online and offline contexts.
• Good Communication skills both in English and Chinese (Mandarin).
